To assure patients and team members of the quality of work and high standards we promote at Kinvara Private Hospital, we have a framework of standards in place. These include the following categories.

Clinical Governance
Clinical governance is a framework through which organisations are accountable for continuously improving the quality of services. In essence, safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care will flourish.
At Kinvara Private Hospital our priority is to ensure that all patients are cared for in a  safe, effective and efficient manner. The aim is to provide excellent care, meeting the needs of each patient and ensuring high levels of patient satisfaction.
The safety of our patients, visitors and staff is of paramount importance and our governance systems are guided by one key principle –  quality matters. There is an active safety and quality programme in place across all services provided by Kinvara Private Hospital which is audited, and monitored at every level of the organisation.
We are also a learning organisation; supporting continual staff education and development, monitoring performance, responding to feedback from patients and service users, and improving if incidents occur or concerns are raised.

At Kinvara Private Hospital we achieve clinical governance by:

The Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN)

What is PHIN?
PHIN is The Private Healthcare Information Network. This is an independent, government-mandated source of information (Information Organisation, or IO) regarding private healthcare. PHIN is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to improve data quality and transparency. PHIN empowers patients to make better-informed choices with regards to care providers.

PHIN’s vision is that all patients considering private healthcare, have access to trustworthy, comprehensive information on quality and price to aid their decision.

Kinvara Private Hospital and PHIN
Kinvara Private Hospital is one of 300 NHS and private hospitals currently working with PHIN. Key data regarding our consultants, procedures and outcomes, is regularly suppled as specified by the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA). We are happy to work with PHIN to provide transparency and vital information for prospective patients.

CMA Compliance

How we work with our doctors
In October 2014, the Competition and Markets Authority (the “CMA”) published the Private Healthcare Market Investigation Order 2014 (the “Order”) following its investigation into the private healthcare industry.  The Order details requirements for private hospital operators to disclose information in relation to referring clinicians (as defined by the Order) for the benefit of patients.  Full details about the investigation and the Order can be found on the CMA web page.

Kinvara Private  Hospital provides the following services to Consultants and/or Referring Clinicians:
– Low-value services
– General services:
– Services provided to ensure clinical safety, including in-house training such as Basic, Immediate and Advanced Life Support training,
– Operational services to ensure a smooth patient pathway as part of normal practise. Including patient admission, administrative and billing.

– Basic workplace amenities
– Tea and coffee,
– Subsidised refreshments on-site, available to staff and persons working at the facility generally,
– Stationery, available to staff and persons working at the facility generally
– Car parking.

– General marketing and promotional services in order to operate a commercial business, including but not limited to;
– Production of consultant directory and website profiles (digital),
– Production of marketing material and literature, including GP and direct to patient mailers,
– Production of advertisements and media placements to promote the services of the hospital,
– Open evenings for patient education.

– Higher-Value Services
All Consultants with Practising Privileges who use sessional outpatient room space are issued a Consulting Room Licence. The cost per hour for utilising rooms is £18 per hour at Kinvara Private Hospital.

– Clinician Financial Interests in Kinvara Private Hospital
Private Hospital operators are required to disclose details of referring clinicians practising at their facilities who have a share or financial interest in those facilities or any equipment used. Some clinicians may own shares in their practising facility.

Infection Control

At Kinvara Private Hospital, we are committed to minimising the risk of hospital-acquired infection (HAI) including MRSA for patients, visitors and staff.  We are also dedicated to sustaining high quality patient care and compliance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements, including effective infection prevention and control practices. We understand the prevention and control of infection is a key component of patient safety and a critical indicator of the quality of services provided by our hospital.

All our medical staff at Kinvara Private Hospital are trained in infection prevention and control. Patients are all given individual rooms with private en-suite facilities before and after any treatment or surgery.

Our cleaning staff work to high specifications of hygiene and cleanliness and are available to respond should a need arise. At Kinvara Private Hopsital, we follow a strict and comprehensive room-cleaning regime between the discharge of one patient and the admission of the next.

We have a high nurse-to-patient ratio, thereby ensuring patients are well looked after, and high standards of care and hygiene are achieved.

Our cleaning staff work to high specifications of hygiene and cleanliness and are available to respond should a need arise. At Kinvara Private Hopsital, we follow a strict and comprehensive room-cleaning regime between the discharge of one patient and the admission of the next.

Level Of Care

We offer all of our patients outstanding levels of friendly, compassionate care, clinical excellence and fast, convenient appointments at times to suit you with little or no wait. In addition, we provide a choice of highly-qualified and experienced consultants and anaesthestists and comfortable en-suite private single bedrooms. Our patient reviews are outstanding and we have been rated ‘Good’ in all aspects of care by the hospital’s independent regulatory body, the Care Quality Commission.

Care Quality Commission (CQC)

The CQC is an independent body monitoring, inspecting and regulating all NHS and private hospitals in England. Their aim is to ensure that all hospitals meet quality and safety standards. CQC inspection reports are published regularly, and include a hospital rating.
The 5 key questions asked are:
    Are they safe?
    Are they effective?
    Are they caring?
    Are they responsive to people’s needs?
    Are they well-led?
