About Mr. Rohit Gupta
Mr Rohit Gupta is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hand, wrist and upper limb surgery, with more than a decade of experience treating both surgical and non-surgical conditions of the upper limb. He completed higher surgical training in the West of Scotland, followed by two specialist fellowships at the Royal Derby Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, and has since held consultant posts at NHS hospitals in London, Essex and Lincolnshire.
Mr Gupta has particular expertise in the management of wrist and scaphoid fractures, wrist arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction and small joint replacement. He offers Wide Awake Local Anaesthetic No Tourniquet (WALANT) surgery, which avoids a general anaesthetic, and holds a postgraduate qualification in musculoskeletal ultrasound. This allows him to run one-stop clinics in which patients can be assessed, scanned and, where appropriate, receive an ultrasound-guided injection in a single visit.
He is actively involved in teaching and quality improvement, has been a recruiting investigator in national multicentre trials, and has completed the NHS Leadership Academy's Rosalind Franklin programme. Mr Gupta places great emphasis on clear explanation and shared decision-making, so that each patient understands their options and the treatment plan is tailored to their needs.
Mr Gupta qualified in 2000 from Manipal Academy of Higher Education and has been an NHS Consultant since 2017, most recently as Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby (Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust).
