What is Lower Body Lift?
A Lower Body Lift is a sophisticated '360-degree' dermolipectomy. Unlike a standard tummy tuck, which only addresses the front, a belt lipectomy removes a continuous circular band of skin and fat from the entire midsection. The procedure at our Yorkshire hospital is typically performed in two integrated stages.
First, while the patient is prone (face down), the surgeon removes excess tissue from the lower back and hips, physically lifting the buttocks and outer thighs. The patient is then turned to the supine position (face up) for a full abdominoplasty. This includes the surgical repair of the 'six-pack' muscles (rectus plication) and the removal of the abdominal apron. By connecting these two areas around the flanks, the surgeon achieves a dramatic 'corset' effect that tightens the entire lower torso.
Due to the complexity and duration of this surgery, it is performed under general anaesthesia and requires a multi-day stay in our specialist private ward for expert post-operative monitoring.
The benefits of this procedure include:
- Removes a 360-degree 'belt' of excess skin, providing total mid-body rejuvenation.
- Lifts and reshapes the buttocks and outer thighs for a more athletic lower body profile.
- Permanently flattens the abdomen and repairs separated core muscles (diastasis recti).
- Eliminates skin-on-skin friction, reducing rashes and improving daily hygiene.
- Achieves the most dramatic 'before and after' transformation possible in body contouring.

What does Lower Body Lift involve?
The body lift physically removes a circumferential 'belt' of excess tissue while structurally tightening the core and lifting the lower body.
Precise 360-degree surgical marking of the excess skin 'belt' while the patient is standing.
Posterior phase: Removal of skin and fat from the lower back and flanks, followed by a surgical buttock and thigh lift.
Anterior phase: Patient is turned to perform a full abdominoplasty, including muscle repair and umbilical (belly button) repositioning.
Meticulous multi-layer closure of the entire circumferential incision and placement of surgical drains.

How Long is
the Recovery
AFTER LOWER BODY LIFT?
Recovery from a body lift requires patience and support. For the first two weeks, your mobility will be limited, and you will need assistance with most daily tasks. You must wear your circumferential compression garment religiously to support your new shape and minimize swelling. Pain is managed with a tailored medication plan.
Most patients find that by week 3, they are moving more freely, but 'pulling' or 'stretching' sensations are normal for several months. We schedule regular follow-ups at our Yorkshire clinic to monitor your healing and provide expert guidance on scar care and activity levels. Most patients are ready to return to light exercise by week 8.
When Will I See
the Final Results?
The results of a body lift are nothing short of transformational. You will see an immediate and dramatic reduction in your waistline and a significant lift to your buttocks and thighs. While you will continue to have some swelling for up to 6 months, the new structure of your body is permanent. Maintaining a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle will ensure your results last a lifetime. Many patients describe the result as finally feeling 'at home' in their skin, with the ability to wear fitted clothes and engage in physical activities that were previously impossible.
