What is Buttock Lift Surgery?
The buttock lift is a 'subtractive' procedure, meaning its primary goal is the removal of excess tissue rather than the addition of volume.
During the operation, a horizontal incision is meticulously placed along the upper buttock/lower back area, designed to be concealed by swimwear or undergarments. We excise a crescent-shaped section of skin and underlying fat, then 'suspend' the remaining gluteal tissue by anchoring it to the deep sacral fascia. This internal suspension is what gives the lift its longevity and prevents the 'bottoming out' often seen with less advanced techniques.
While it does not add volume like a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), it can be combined with liposuction to refine the outer thighs and 'saddlebags,' or with fat transfer (Auto-Augmentation) if the patient also desires increased projection.
The benefits of this procedure include:
- Permanently removes 'hanging' skin folds caused by massive weight loss.
- Lifts the entire gluteal region to a more youthful, anatomical position.
- Eliminates skin irritation and chafing (intertrigo) caused by redundant folds.
- Improves the fit of clothing, particularly trousers and swimwear.
- Creates a smoother, firmer transition between the lower back and hips.

What does Buttock Lift Surgery involve?
The procedure is an architectural reshaping of the lower torso, focusing on tissue suspension and skin reduction.
Careful pre-operative marking to ensure symmetry and optimal scar concealment.
Excision of a horizontal wedge of excess skin and fat from the upper gluteal region.
Internal suspension of the gluteal tissues using heavy-duty sutures anchored to the sacral fascia.
Layered closure of the skin and application of a medical-grade compression garment.

AFTER BUTTOCK LIFT SURGERY?
Drains are usually placed for the first 2-5 days to prevent fluid collection (seroma). You will wear a compression garment for 6 weeks to support the new contour. While you will be mobile from Day 1, strenuous exercise and heavy lifting must be avoided for 6-8 weeks to prevent the 'widening' of scars.
When Will I See
the Final Results?
Initial results are visible immediately, though significant swelling and bruising are normal for the first month. The 'final' results - where the tissues have softened and the scars have matured - take approximately 12 months. The result is a permanently firmer, more projected gluteal profile that significantly improves the patient's overall body proportions.
