What is Male Breast Reduction Surgery?
Gynecomastia is the benign enlargement of the male breast gland, often resulting from hormonal imbalances - specifically an excess of oestrogen relative to testosterone. Male Breast Reduction Surgery is the only definitive corrective treatment for true gynecomastia.
When the enlargement is primarily fatty (pseudogynecomastia), we use high-definition liposuction to permanently remove fat cells. However, for true gynecomastia involving dense, rubbery glandular tissue, a surgical excision is required. This is performed through a discreet 'periareolar' incision along the bottom edge of the areola.
For most patients, a hybrid approach combining both excision and liposuction ensures a smooth, athletic transition from the chest to the abdomen and shoulders.
The benefits of this procedure include:
- Achieves a flatter, firmer, and more masculine chest contour.
- Eliminates painful or tender glandular lumps behind the nipple.
- Permanently removes stubborn fat cells and glandular tissue.
- Significantly restores self-confidence and freedom in clothing choices.
- Allows for a return to swimming and gym activities without self-consciousness.

What does Male Breast Reduction Surgery involve?
The procedure is a two-step process: removing the 'bulk' with liposuction and the 'lump' with surgical excision.
Small incisions are hidden in the armpit or at the edge of the areola.
Liposuction is used to sculpt the fat around the pectorals and flanks.
The dense glandular tissue is removed via a small periareolar incision.
The area is closed with internal dissolvable sutures and a compression vest is fitted.

How Long is
the Recovery
AFTER MALE BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY?
Recovery is surprisingly quick. Most men return to light office work within 3–5 days.
You will experience some bruising and a 'tight' sensation in the chest. You must avoid heavy lifting or chest-heavy gym exercises for 6 weeks to allow the internal tissues to bond correctly to the muscle.
When Will I See
the Final Results?
Results are visible immediately, though obscured by swelling for the first few weeks. As the skin tightens over 3–6 months, the final masculine contour will emerge. The removed glandular tissue cannot grow back, meaning the results are permanent as long as a stable weight is maintained.
